Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge

Rooms and chalets at the top of the pass, community-owned, and where the Sentinel walk starts.

About this place

The lodge belongs to the Batlokoa ba Mota. It was built in 1957, came back to the community in 2000, and reopened in 2016 after being rebuilt. It is run on the community's behalf by Transfrontier Parks Destinations, and a share of what it takes goes back to the community.

It stands at about 2,200 m, below the Amphitheatre, and it is where the Sentinel walk starts. There is a restaurant, a bar, a conference room, a gear shop and an adventure centre.

It is also the nearest place to ask about the chain ladders and the access fee at the gate, both of which change.
